Our Corporate Heritage
Pro Trans Logistics, Inc. occupies a unique niche in the market place. The company specializes in providing specifically tailored and customized time sensitive services to very demanding Customers. Founded in 1992 by the current Owners, Mike Thompson and Michelle Jordan, the Company is relatively new as a Business Unit. However, Pro Trans is rich in the Heritage and Tradition of Honesty, Integrity, Loyalty and a Strong Work Ethic that manifests a deep appreciation for QUALITY PERFORMANCE. These admirable traits and characteristics that are perpetuated by Mike and Michelle are the living product and influence of their father, Mr. Tommy Thompson.
Mr. Tommy Thompson graduated from Sikes High School in Sikes, LA in 1959 and shortly thereafter entered the United States Air Force where he served Honorably until 1964. Immediately after Discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Thompson went into Transportation Sales. Beginning with Sales of Rail Services, Tommy gained a depth and breadth of experience in Air Freight, Small Package, Less than Truckload, and ultimately, also saw the tremendous need for formal education. He entered San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas and in 1968 achieved his Degree in Business Administration. After the Passage of the Motor Carrier Act of 1980, Tommy and his wife, Chris, Opened their own Transportation Services and Trucking Company. The endeavor grew into a vibrant operation and remained so until the mid 1990s when family illness and obligations necessitated a re-alignment of priorities and allocation of time on Tommy’s part.
Since initiation of operations at Pro Trans Logistics, Inc. by Mike and Michelle, Tommy serves as their Person Advisor and Corporate Ambassador to the Core Customers. Tommy has a unique talent for interfacing with people and building lasting recognition as a Professional Sales Executive.
Both Mike and Michelle literally grew up in the Transportation Services and Trucking Business. Mike graduated from Beaumont Charleton Pollard High School in Beaumont, Texas in 1982. Mike served as Manager of Gordon’s Jewelers until 1984 at which time he moved to Houston to enter the family Transportation Services and Trucking Company. Michelle graduated from Beaumont Charleton Pollard High School in 1984 and worked in the Beaumont Office of the Family Business for a short time before moving to Houston to work in the Main office. Mike Oversees the Trucking Operation and Michelle Manages the Transportation Services Element and the Accounting Functions for both Business Units.
It is most important to note that Pro Trans Logistics, Inc. is a “Family Owned” Company that believes in and staunchly supports “Family Values”. Consequently, Employees/Drivers are treated as “Family”.
From the inception of the Company, Mrs. Chris Thompson has been an integral part of the Organization. Ill health precludes further participation in business activities by Mrs. Thompson. However, the strong Work Ethic and Penchant for Quality she vigorously espoused remains as an example to all as to what dedication and sacrifice can accomplish.
The Over-arching philosophy of the Company is to treat all people with respect and dignity and to add positive value to all Core Customers. Treat everyone as we expect to be treated ourselves. All company Drivers are encouraged to “Always be a part of the SOLUTION-not the PROBLEM. A simple act of kindness or assistance serves as a positive example and is much more powerful that 10,000 words of empty rhetoric.
